On June 12, 2023, at the Suwon Sports Complex, K-DOC conducted a successful volunteer activity with the "Doctor Bus on the Go" project, providing medical services to the underprivileged. K-DOC collaborated with the Korea Institute for Healthy Family at Suwon to mobilize medical staff and medical students, serving approximately 200 individuals from multicultural families, foreigners, and the elderly with the "Doctor Bus on the Go." This medical volunteer project saw participation not only from K-DOC but also from medical student organizations such as Medical Mavericks, ToBeDoctor, and the Medical Student Newspaper. The Korea International Health and Medical Foundation provided a mobile screening vehicle, and Boryung Inc. sponsored medicines.
About 30 medical volunteers identified potential patients with various conditions through consultations, blood pressure, and blood glucose checks and connected them with local medical institutions. Notably, medical personnel also conducted health screening education and utilized interpreters and online translators to assist multicultural families and foreign patients facing difficulties. Additionally, patients were provided with medical supplies such as patches and masks.
CEO Seung-kook Cho stated, "While a single volunteer activity cannot solve all healthcare blind spots, we hope that the efforts of K-DOC, medical professionals, and future medical professionals have contributed, even if slightly, to supporting the marginalized and connecting them with local healthcare institutions."
Kyung-sun Yoo, Director of the Korea Institute for Healthy Family at Suwon, expressed hope that "this medical volunteer activity will activate more opportunities to provide ongoing medical services to the underprivileged."
